We Go Places: Client Kickoff in the Big Apple

Savannah’s airport is small. One terminal and two Starbucks small (I know… only two).

Generally a person could arrive an hour before departure to clear the checkpoints and walk on board their plane, all without weaving through copious amounts of people, or swearing because of the airport joggers. So when Shub and I were in the herd of people awaiting their turn at security we were surprised. Though no amount of “hurry up and wait” could dull this moment. We were en-route to the next on-location client meeting but something was different this time around. It was our inaugural visit to New York City!

One of Focus Lab’s favorite clients is Ted Todd, the largest Allstate franchise serving South Florida. Our first project, dated back to the summer of 2012, which included branding and website design. Over the course of these past two years, Focus Lab continued to help with small print and web design requests. One day, Charley–the marketing director for Ted Todd–posted a message in Basecamp with the title: Website Renovation (Much Excitement Wow).

The Ted Todd team thought it would be best to escape their daily scene to meet with Focus Lab and their consultants. NYC was the go-to.

Bill, Shub (project manager, and information architect extraordinaire), and myself took in all the sights, sounds, and mainly eats of lower Manhattan. A quick shot from our hotel window.

We met up with Charley, who took us to one of many WeWork spaces. Their creative space was a perfect fit for an intense meeting to survey the lay of the insurance-web land and start charting a course for their new site coming in 2015.

Bill and Shub both stayed in NYC a tad longer, while I jet-planed it back to my family. It was a whirlwind, but oh so worth it.
