The Challenge

Local organizer Kevin Lawver picked Focus Lab to lead the branding and art direction for Savannah’s first Barcamp event. Our job was to create an identity for the conference that was reflective of its location and intriguing to prospective attendees.

Our Solution

To create a visual representation of this unique event, we intentionally chose avoid the cliche landmarks often used to represent Savannah. Instead, we went with a unique, historic element- a steam engine- that is representative of both Savannah’s local history, and the very nature of the conference itself. The concepts of forward motion and the transportation of knowledge and ideas is embedded in the elements.
