Leafy Came to Visit

Leafy visits Paula Deen's restaurant Lady and Sons

This may come as a surprise to some - but our favorite online invoicing software, Freshbooks, has an official mascot. His name is Leafy (seen above) and he paid us a visit last year. His trip was short but sweet. We did our best to play host and tried to do our city of Savannah justice by showing Leafy around to some cool spots.

Today Freshbooks posted a blog entry recapping Leafy's adventures along the east coast. Take a look at his awesome adventures covering Florida, Georgia, D.C., South Carolina, and Texas (not exactly the east coast - but whatever). We thought it would be nice to share a bit more of his adventures here in Savannah.

Out on the town

Leafy visits Tybee Island

The first order of business was to stop by Tybee Island and catch some waves. Okay, maybe there wasn't any "catching of waves" - but Leafy still had fun taking long walks on the beach and whatnot. The joys of the weekend quickly escaped us and it was time to get back to work. Since we still had Leafy we employed his services briefly. After all, being the Freshbooks mascot means you get exposed to many industries. As it would turn out, Leafy was pretty useful on a branding project at the time (photo below).

After a hard day's work we decided to take Leafy around the historic downtown area (where our office is). The first stop was the newly renovated Ellis Square where Leafy met legendary songwriter Johnny Mercer. We took him on a tour of a few of the other squares which have such rich history to them. Then we went down to River Street to enjoy the view of the river along with the great shops. He had a blast.

We ended the night off with a trip to the restaurant of none other than celebrity chef Paula Deen. Her restaurant, Lady and Sons, is just a block away from our office so we couldn't not take Leafy there. With bellies stuffed we decided to call it a night early. After all, tomorrow was going to be a long day for Leafy - unbeknownst to him.

Getting down to business

We showed Leafy around Tybee and Savannah. We even let him work in our office for a day. But now it's time to get down to business. Why did we invite Leafy out to visit? This is why:

Leafy held hostage

We contacted Freshbooks and informed them that Leafy would be held hostage until the following features were added to their software:

  1. Custom invoice designs/layouts
  2. Pretty graphs of data
  3. Banking integration
  4. Double-entry book keeping

Leafy would be at the mercy of Focus Lab, LLC until these demands were met. Unfortunately, we had a deadline later in the week so we changed our minds and sent Leafy on his way. After all, the two years we've been with Freshbooks have been quite pleasant. I suppose that's work something.

So, take a look at our flickr set of Leafy's trip and let us know what you think in the comments.

DUDE! You shouldn’t have caved! I would have picked up Leafy and moved him to a secure, undisclosed location (probably on a farm somewhere) until Freshbooks met your demands!

You are too nice, my friend…just entirely too nice. First rule of kidnapping: the victim is not your friend. He is your bargaining chip.

I do appreciate the effort, though…maybe they heard you in Toronto? :)

@Doy
Yea, the deadline was just too important. Maybe next time though!

@Mimi
Hmm. I don’t really know what to say to that. :)
